HOW TO DEACTIVATE DND FROM YOUR LINE IN NIGERIA (2020)

Do-Not-Disturb (DND) service was introduced across all GSM Networks in July, 2016 for the purpose of blocking unsolicited text messages from delivering to Nigerian lines. While this is good from a security point-of-view, lines can be mistakenly prevented from receiving any bulk SMS at all whether solicited for or not.

There has been a lot of complaints from customers about not receiving messages they solicited for. Glo and Airtel users can testify to this most especially as their network providers place them on DND without their consent. Not to worry though, you can automatically deactivate DND on your line by doing the following:

MTN networks: text ALLOW to 2442.

AIRTEL networks: text ALLOW to 2442.

GLO networks: text ALLOW to 2442.

ETISALAT networks: text START to 2442.

If you try deactivating DND automatically but keep getting a response from your network that your line is not on DND, no qualms, simply work around this by manually activating then deactivating DND from your line. Here how it works:

For MTN networks, text STOP to 2442, get an activation response, then text ALLOW to 2442.

For AIRTEL networks, text STOP to 2442, get an activation response, then text ALLOW to 2442.

For GLO networks, text STOP to 2442, get an activation response, then text ALLOW to 2442.

For ETISALAT networks, text STOP to 2442, get an activation response, then text START to 2442.

Now if you are still having issues even after manual deactivation, you would have to contact your network provider for further assistance. Please note that it takes around 24 to 72 hours for DND deactivation to take full effect depending on the network so be patient with it.

As an SMS marketer, it is important to advice recipients to check their DND status before subscribing to your platform or when they don’t get your messages. To check DND status on your line, simply text STATUS to 2442 on all networks. You would get a text message stating if your line is on DND or not.
